Here’s a theory for which we have no evidence. The rise in expensively tricked-out design hotels is in direct correlation to the disinclination of contemporary rock stars to smash, trash, and throw entertainment systems through the windows of said hotels.

In the early 1970s hotels had to insure themselves against fire, flood and Acts of Keith Moon. That’s all gone now, along with kaftans with metallic trim and Minimoogs. A pity.

But wait! Perhaps all is not lost. We have received exclusive reports of hair-raising, hellraising behaviour by Coldplay during their recent stay at Buenos Aires’ Faena Hotel + Universe (they played three gigs in BA two weeks ago). The information comes from Florencia Vrljicak, the Faena’s lovely PR manager:

Coldplay stayed at the Faena for a whole week. They left Alan [Señor Faena, the eponymous owner] a guitar!!! Signed by all the members of the band and an incredible letter saying (amongst other things) they did not want to leave. They really had a good time and enjoyed the hotel very much. After the shows, we usually prepared barbecue in the Mercado’s patio. They enjoyed that place particularly. They were supposed to leave on Friday for Brazil, but extended the stay for two nights. There is so much I can tell… One day Chris asked to use the piano we have at EL TEATRO to compose. And he played alone all night until 1 am. The guitar is incredible! And the letter is so nice I am keeping it in my cork board!

And that’s not all. Sources from lower down the hotel’s food chain have muttered darkly to us about ‘generous tipping’, ‘a complete lack of arrogance’ and, most disturbing of all, ‘normal human being-like behaviour’.

Someone needs to get these boys into rehab, and quick.

Chris is the most gracious person. His voice was almost gone (it was around 11 pm Saturday night), it was his birthday party-day, yet he took a moment for an old lady like me. I was extraordinarily lucky. I would have liked to have engaged him in conversation but I lost my adult mind and was too polite to impose. Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin, seems to have an adverse reaction when his wife’s name is mentioned.

During a news conference with his band in Brazil, Martin reportedly made snarky remarks, and eventually stormed off, after reporters mentioned his Oscar- winning wife’s name.

According to MSNBC’s The Scoop, after being asked if a duet with Paltrow could be in the cards, Martin retorted: “What’s your favourite sexual position?” When Paltrow was brought up again, he supposedly stormed off.

The Coldplay frontman, married to Paltrow since 2003, was in Brazil recently and left journalists worrying about his wife.

Is the leader of Coldplay icy to the press? A Brazilian journalist claims Chris Martin is so rude that he feels sorry for his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

A writer from Folha de Sao Paolo opined “Gwyneth Paltrow must suffer. Chris Martin, her husband, isn’t one of the nicest persons on earth. At least that’s what it seemed on the 20-minute press conference.”

I don’t know how to start, but it was just too much, I don’t know if I want to shout Surprised , laugh Laughing , cry Crying or Very sad or every think at the same time. I think I really have an overdose and I’m shock. Shocked

I was trying to see them since Friday, although I after knew that they didn’t arrive to DF until Saturday midday. I didn’t saw too much that day, just the big black Chevrolet’s escorted by motorcycles of the police after the concert. Like I didn’t have tickets to the 3rd I went to the hotel to wait and try to get autographs. I couldn’t go to the concert, and besides some friends got meet and greet for that day, so I feel terrible sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad (My friends tell me that Guy didn’t appear because he was ill). Although this, we wait and later Jonny and Will went out after the concert. Like we found out where they went we try to follow them and although it was a bar they where in a private party so we left because we were really tired. I feel so sad and tired. I’d wish some day I’ll get a meet and greet, but a special one to take a bear with them. That would be really cool, don’t you think, jajaja!!! ohhh could you imagine to be in a sound check, that would be a freaking amazing meet and greet!!! Cool Razz

But the 4th arrive and here comes the good part. Around 1pm I went to the hotel there was just 8 people and ohhhhh my God!!!!!! I don’t remember well but I think it was near 1:30 pm Chris go out and give us autographs, I was so happy and shock, I was not able to ask for a pic or anything Shocked , nobody did in fact, at least I was able to give him a birthday card and something more that I wrote. Then he went to the car and left and we all start to laugh, and I also cry!!! I was so nervous that my legs were trembling. Finally the concert time arrive and OHHH JESUS!!!! It was fucking amazing. Chris tells us he had had a fucking amazing birthday in Mexico and he said thanks to us, and he try to speak Spanish several times, quite good in fact, and I even understood his English!!!. It was the best concert of my life (since I will go to another Coldplay concert of course). I just sing and shout and sing and shout and jump and cry and jump, Will was amazing I couldn’t stop jump with the drummers and I remember everything was amazing, the big balloons of colors in Yellow, the red stage for Talk, the big crescendo in Clocks, and Chris dragging in the floor and jumping and dancing all the time, and Jonny played the piano and Guy with the harmonica, they played Love Me Tender, and the lights and then the big big surprise Jay Z!!!!!!!!!!!! Could you believe it, Jay Z singing with Coldplay!!!! It was freaking awesome!!!! and I still can’t believe I was there, I saw it. It was still more amazing when some friends told me that Gwyneth, Michael Stipe and Beyonce were between the public, also Gael Garcia Bernal but I know that.

Well I just want to finish with a big big thank you to Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will, for the awesome concert, the astonishing surprise and for all that amazing music. I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST. Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

I have needed a whole day to recover me for all that emotion and overdose of Coldplay. I was shock with happiness Laughing and also with sadness Crying or Very sad because now it’s over for a while. I wish… I don’t know…too many things. Rolling Eyes
