If there are bigger Coldplay fans on the planet than my kids (and me), I would be surprised. So you can imagine McKelle and Maddy’s absolute JOY to meet Coldplay in person last week! Here’s how it happened:

McKelle and Maddy camped out for Tonight Show tickets the night before Coldplay was appearing on the show. The next morning my girls took it upon themselves to cheer on the band from behind a fence during a soundcheck, and eventually the guys came out to say hello. McKelle and Maddy got their posters signed by each of the bandmembers and took photos with them. Here is a YouTube video of McKelle’s encounter with Chris Martin. Gwyneth Paltrow, eating her way through the Hamptons. The actress enjoyed a family seafood supper with husband Chris Martin and kids Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, at Cherystones Clam and Lobster Shack in East Hampton, N.Y., where they sat under tiki umbrellas with their feet in the sand. The next day, Paltrow and the little ones joined Mario Batali for a snack at La Fondita – followed later in the weekend by a tented tasting (with much lobster) at Nick and Toni’s.

Also in the Hamptons: Chris Martin, treating his kids – Apple, 4, and Moses, 2 – to chocolate at Dylan’s Candy Bar in East Hampton, N.Y. The Coldplay singer was really sweet with his children, a source says. He left the local shop employees breathless, too. “He looked really sexy,” says the source.

While Madonna and Guy battle to save their marriage, things seem to be looking up for Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.

The Hollywood star and her Coldplay husband are spending the summer in LA.

Before they left Britain, the camera-shy couple made a rare public appearance at their daughter Apple’s school in North London for sports day.

Hey!

I’m sorry I haven’t blogged about this until this morning. I was absolutely exhausted after coming back from BBC Television Centre, where I was again able to get into the Coldplay gig, not having won a competition [because I failed to enter].

I got there about 4pm and was walking down the line, trying to find out if there was a spare ticket. I know there were people not able to get to the gig, for one reason of another, so I was fairly hopeful. Met up with Cody and his girlfriend and another friend and there just happened to be a man behind them who had a spare ticket. WHEE!!!! So, Adrian, if you’re out there- YOU RAWK! [Read more]

BRIXTON ACADEMY REVIEW

I got to Brixton about 1.30 and was very surprised to see only 3 people queuing up. I still didn’t have a ticket to get in so I was asking everyone who turned up whether they had a spare. Seeing people turning up in pairs kind of indicated that my chances of getting a ticket were slim. I knew there were still tickets available as I had posted an ad on gumtree and got responses, but the wretches were asking for money and there was no way I was going to shellout for a gig that was free. I also was told that Ticketmaster had put more tickets on their site this morning, which peeved me greatly.

However I was hoping to catch Coldplay as they arrived at the venue and get my album signed, which would have been consolation enough if I wasn’t able to get in.

The first bandmember to turn up was Guy, who looked really cool in black skinny jeans, a striped top and a baggy grey sweater. He was also sporting Ray Ban sunglasses [which I wish I had asked him to take off when I got my picture with him, but no matter...]. He stopped for a short while to sign a few things, including my album cover and then went inside. He did come back out again, went somewhere and when he came back, signed some more stuff for people. I managed to say to him ‘Guy you’re a DUDE! You have my heart!’ to which he replied ‘Thanks’. I tried to tell him that I didn’t have a ticket, but he said he had to go back inside and he reached out and touched my shoulder as he was going back in. HE TOUCHED MY SHOULDER! AIIIIEEEE!!

I don’t think I’ll ever wash it again.
