Coldplay / Apple Style Portrait Tutorial [Video]

If you’re interested in finding out how to make a Coldplay “Viva La Vida” iTunes style portrait, here’s how. It’s even better if you play the song in the background. Makes it less monotonous…

The other day, I wrote a post regarding Hongkiat.com, and how much I loved some of the tutorials on it. I saw the Coldplay / Apple Portrait tutorial, thought it looked cool, so I decided to do it myself, then made a video tutorial of it.

Gwyneth Paltrow raves about Coldplay’s Grammy bound Album

[Gwyneth] Paltrow had been advertised all week at another Hamptons event, with Madonna headlined to make an appearance. But Madonna never showed, natch, and Paltrow split her event for this one early in the evening.

She wound up staying and having a great time, chatting with everyone. Her husband, Chris Martin, is on tour with Coldplay, promoting the group’s Grammy-bound album, “Viva la Vida.” Let me tell you: Paltrow could not be prouder of Martin’s musical achievement. She lit up like a Christmas tree as we discussed the tracks.

Coldplay Dominate The UK Music Charts Eight Weeks On

It’s been eight weeks and Coldplay’s album ‘Viva la Vida’ or ‘Death and All His Friends’ (also simply known as ‘Viva la Vida’) their fourth studio album is currently at no. 2 in the UK Charts. The album has been the number-one-selling album in 36, yes, 36 countries around the world! In the United States, this album has sold 316,000 copies in its first day (some American artists can barely do this in a week, for example American pop rock singer-songwriter Ashlee Simpson’s last cd ‘Bittersweet World’ sold only 47,000 copies in its first week). These sales are simply astonishing, for a UK band. This is living proof that it is possible for UK artists to crack America!!

We Are Resident worked on Coldplay’s new Viva La Vida video

The Mission: The thoroughly modern music of Coldplay’s fourth album, Viva la Vida, is reconnecting audiences to Romantic era artistry with its visuals. The creative studio Resident (www.weareresident.com) was the ideal visual FX resource to translate the band’s vision into reality, with their classically-inspired work on the highly anticipated Hype Williams-directed video for the record’s stirring title track.

The video marks the latest in Resident’s long string of collaborations with Williams that includes recent videos for Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, and Jay-Z. The in-demand director knew that the international talent roster of Resident, which is capable of wielding a distinctly European approach, would be able to meet Coldplay’s exacting standards within extremely tight deadlines.

Coldplay @ Air Canada Centre, Toronto 30/07/2008 [Reviews/Setlist/Photos/Videos/Fan Encounters]

Pictures of last night’s Toronto show are here. Reviews/Videos below…

Coldplay, at Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Wednesday

Long live the kings. And you too, Coldplay. The world’s biggest band hit Toronto’s Air Canada Centre for the first of two sold-out concerts on Wednesday, leaving the impression that while its members are a nice young foursome of Englishmen capable of writing gorgeous anthems and performing them wonderfully, they just aren’t the conquering types.

Appearing as if they hadn’t cleaned the dust from Sunday’s Pemberton Festival in B.C. off their raggedy military garb, the CD-selling giants starting grandly, entering with the swelling instrumental Life in Technicolor that ushered them to an audience that greeted its heroes with something like a soccer-stadium chant.

“Viva Dios” [Coldplay's Viva La Vida Disected]

by Dr. Hesham Hassaballa

In the Name of God, The Subtle, The Loving

I, like millions of people all over this country and the world, am enthralled and intrigued by English alternative rock band Coldplay’s song “Viva La Vida.” I was first introduced to the song by the Apple iTunes commercial, which featured the song a few months back. The song was somehow familiar to me, even though it was first released June 2008.

Coldplay @ Wachovia Center, Philadelphia 25/07/08 [Reviews/Setlist/Pictures/Video]

Pictures from Friday’s Philly show are here [including some brilliant ones by Rob Wanenchak - including the above...]. Reviews/Videos below…

All in all, a fantastic show. I didn’t much care for the 2nd opening act… the first guy was good, though he didn’t really have the crowd’s attention.

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face was incredible. It was this odd techno version, but they pulled it off, to make it one of those unforgettable concert pieces. It was rather brilliant. [Read more]

Ne-Yo’s delight at beating Coldplay in the charts [Video]

R&B singer Ne-Yo is so busy producing mega-hits and touring that he was caught unaware of a significant achievement - usurping Coldplay’s hold at the the top of the charts.

Coldplay @ United Center, Chicago 22/07/2008 [Reviews/Setlist/Pictures/Video]

Pictures from Coldplay’s first Chicago show are in the gallery here [including some gorgeous ones by Radim Rotek]. Reviews and videos are below.

Coldplay was in top form!!! They were awesome and Chris sounded amazing!!!

Now some highlights:

When I got to the United Center there were cameras in my section. I was in Section 101. Security told me Coldplay was filming something. Later, during the show Chris said they were performing an old song and then a new song. I don’t remember exactly but he said that the filming was for the new song. He said if we did good he would do the new song twice. The second performance of the song would be for the film. The old song was Yellow. The new song was Lost!. So we got Lost! twice during the concert. I am guessing Lost! will be the next single?

Also The Scientist (acoustic version) was performed from the back in Section 109. [Read more]
