#42 reports from an end-of-term TV show

Will is laughing like a drain - and it’s all because of Chris’s socks. I’ve no idea when this T4 TV special will air, but I won’t spoil the interview by telling you what’s caused the hilarity. It’s nice though, to see the fellas all together on the sofa (albeit one which keeps collapsing at Jonny’s end) and all genuinely having a good laugh.

Doubtless, the lightness of mood has a lot to do with how close we all are to the end of this touring leg. Not that it hasn’t been a great time - far from it, everyone is agreed that it’s been a great run. The fact is though, that after six weeks straight at work, the prospect of ten days at home is pretty much the best treat any of us can imagine. (OK, twenty days at home….). Actually the majority of the touring party went home after the Jools Holland thing, so everyone is halfway into “home-mode” already. [Read more]

Later, Live with Jools Holland and COLDPLAY! 07/10/2008 [Nettiereport]

This review contains spoilers. If you don’t want to be spoiled, then don’t read… LOL!

A lovely young man put me on the audience list for tonight’s taping of Live with Jools Holland. I know tickets were fully booked, so I was very grateful for this. :)

Doors opened at 7pm and I didn’t realise that I was standing in the wrong place! I was with the audiences, who were queuing up for Jools and other shows like Never Mind the Buzzcocks [I've always wanted tickets to that] and Ready Steady Cook. I was actually on Coldplay’s guestlist!! I hightailed it to the main reception where I picked up my pass and went in. I wish I had realised earlier as I could’ve been inside ages ago, in the warmth…

Nettie @ Q Awards 2008 [Nettie's EXCLUSIVE Report]

aka OMG! I kissed Chris Martin!

I’ve just got back from the Grosvenor House Hotel, where Coldplay picked up two gongs at the 2008 Q Magazine Awards - for Best Album [for Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends] and Best Act In The World Today. I reckon they should’ve been nominated for Best Live Act, which went to The Kaiser Chiefs [as much as I love the Chiefs, I'm sorry Muse were robbed, no wonder they never turned up. Nah, Muse always win - give it to someone else this year.], but hey-ho, 2 is a great number and a great start to what I know will be a fantastic year of awards for Coldplay.

Sept 29 - My Adventure to Bologna

When I was back in the states and saw that Coldplay was touring Europe while I’d be abroad…. I was stoked! Maybe I’d travel to another country to see Coldplay …And then I saw the dates in Italy… in Bologna–only an hour’s train ride from Florence! I bought 2 tickets, hoping I’d make a friend who liked Coldplay enough to pay $86 and a buy train ticket to come with me.

Fortunately, I found a girl in my ceramics class. Her name is Mo (aka Maurine), she’s from New Jersey, and she’s a total goofball. We didn’t really know each other going into it, but we got along great and had a fantastic time!

As I hoped they would be, Coldplay was ..incredible. I nearly cried I was so overwhelmed with joy haha. Well worth the adventure! The venue was fairly small–definitely not as big as Key Arena. The Italians by me all seemed to be quite ecstatic and enjoying the music as much as I was. Pretty much everyone knew all the words, even the girl next to us who spoke absolutely no english. It really is amazing how music can be so universal and affect someone the same way it affects me.. even though they don’t understand the words, they can feel the emotion and the excitement through the music.. They can feel overtaken by the sad yet content and comforting feeling of “Fix You” …or a rush from the marching beat and triumphant strings of “Viva la Vida”…. Perhaps they might be moved by the atmosphere of live music, ..the rhythm physically pounding in their chest…

Sunny Zurich.

Half an hour until the Oxfam volunteers arrive for campaigning at tonight’s Coldplay show. I’m sitting outside catching (possibly) some of the last rays of summer, in sunny Zurich. It’s important to catch your vitamin D from the sunshine you know.. especially when you work in the dim light of these indoor arenas all day. I have to admit (as I squint at the glare of the screen), the weather is making me wish we had an outdoor stadium show today!

#42 and the Munchen bunchen

We arrive in Munich not entirely sure what we’ll find. The crew have had a day off here in the midst of “Oktoberfest”. Now I couldn’t tell you exactly what Oktoberfest is, or indeed why it begins at the end of September. What I do know, though, is that it is all about the drinking. Somewhat predictably, much of the crew are looking rather tired today. I expect the fact that the band have chosen not to soundcheck has been greeted with much relief.

Here’s Chris in the acoustic section raising a glass in the spirit of Oktoberfest.

CHRIS MARTIN IS A CLEAN SHAVEN CUTIE!

More pictures in the gallery here.

I swear it seems whenever i see Chris Martin (lead singer of Coldplay and Gwyneth Paltrow’s hubby & baby daddy) he’s always fairly unkempt & scruffy - yet i came across these recent pics of the band arriving at the airport in Prague led by a clean shaven Mr. Martin (except for a little 5 o’clock shadow…)

Coldplay in Vienna

So, this was a week to remember. For several reasons. But the most importaint one was two great concerts in two days. Following Madonna, i came back to Vienna to shoot Coldplay in Stadthalle. I have never been in this hall before, and it is just amazing. Huge, packed with 15.000 people. Coldplay rocked like i never imagined. Their music seems more intimate on CDs but when they play, it comes alive big time and they really go super loud.

Coldplay @ O2 Arena, Prague, Czech Republic 22/09/2008 [Reviews/Setlist/Pictures/Video]

Pictures are in the gallery here. Here’s are some reviews. Video to follow…

Coldplay let themselves feel

- In Prague O2 Arena last night played one of the most popular British bands

- Came to listen to it patnáctitisícový crowd

As if “slušňáci” Coldplay in today’s pop music or not. Their tour of the new album ‘Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends’ perhaps because yesterday fulfilled Prague O2 Arena to the brim. Critics, vyčítající British Coldplay colourlessness and pathos, sometimes amuse tartness, but not take so well “at the heart of” a high voice jednatřicetiletého Chris Martin in hymn like songs about human relationships, doubt, anxiety and faith.

“We’re finally here,” Martin spoke Czech at the beginning of the concert, had a light on the audience and wished them good fun. People are a little later to Coldplay almost touch - musicians with a guitar and mandolin vběhli to the audience. Closer contact with people furiously photographed the band also due to stage equipped with two side-stage.
