Kasabian Headline Creamfields 2008 [Nettie Report]

My pictures are here and here’s quick review..

Drove up to Creamfields yesterday afternoon and got there about 5pm and I just walked to the barrier. That was weird…

What peeps were doing was, as soon as the last band finished, they’d walk off to wherever. The front of stage was a bit of a mudbath, but not as bad as what was going on at last year’s Glastonbury.

Whoa is me….

Um, just got back from Reading Festival, where Bloc Party and The Killers gave absolutely BLINDING sets. I’m off tomorrow to Creamfields to see Kasabian headline, so no updates until I get back…

Nettie’s V Festival 2008 Report

As mentioned earlier, I went along to V Festival 2008 in Chelmsford. I drove this time, as it’s only 40 minutes away. The traffic on the A12 was horrendous and it took a while just to get into the campsite. However, the field I was staying in was quite close by, so setting up was a doddle…

They’ve changed the layout completely since last year. The 4Music stage was were the V Stage was and vice versa. It took a while for me to get my bearings. I had mates over in red camping [I was in yellow] and it took ages for me to find them, the area was so big and not very well marked out. They need to sort that out for next year…

On the Saturday I checked out Air Traffic, who were ok, but they much better when I saw them at Rock Werchter last year. I’d never seen Shed Seven before, so checked them out on recommendation of my mate. Now I see where Oasis got their sound from. They have totally ripped off this band, who have been around for ages and have some great tunes. I really enjoyed their set. [Read more]

Nettie See’s Batman [The Dark Knight] Heath Ledger is BRILLIANT!

I just came back from see The Dark Knight - the new Batman film and boy, didn’t Heath Ledger do a sterling job as the Joker? He was crazed, twisted, and hysterically funny. If the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences doesn’t award him a posthumous Oscar, then this world ain’t right…. [Read more]

Um….

Sorry for the lack of proper updates….

I’m absolutely exhausted at the moment…

Manana peeps…

NME disses Coldplay’s band name

God!

The NME get on my right nerves sometimes…

Did you see the article in this week’s edition [26th July] about deciding decent band names? Things like Muse used to be called Gothic Plague, Kasabian were called Saracuse and REM were called Cans of Piss [LOL!]. Anyway, this is what they said about Coldplay:

“Coldplay - a meaningless juxtapostion of words…”

What gives? First they’re supporting the band, next minute they’re dissing them? Make your bloody mind up! Suffice to say, I’ve fired off an email to set the record straight…

Geez! I can’t stand laziness. It wouldn’t have taken them 2 mins to find this out on the web…

Coldplay perform on Tonight with Jay Leno 17/07/2008 [Reviews/Setlist/Pictures/Videos/Torrent]

Coldplay performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as part of the Mercedes-Benz Summer Concert Series. You can now view their performances of Viva la Vida and Lost! online. The performance of Lost! is an online exclusive only and wasn’t aired on television.
There is also a Coldplay fan interview, where John Melendez quizzes the hardest of hard-core Coldplay fans on their trivia skills! Watch the performances below [thanks Bernie's Coldplay Site]

Fan review/videos are below and pictures are in the gallery here. There’s also a torrent of an amazing package of HDTV quality versions of Coldplay’s performance [thanks Jack].

Also, apparently Guy’s camera is a Leica M7, not an M8. It’s an analogue camera, not a digital camera [thanks 0bli0].

The Future of Coldplay according to Bob Lefsetz

This snippet from Bob lefsetz was written nearly 3 years ago…

Coldplay… One has to ask, is Coldplay selling out because it’s such fantastic
music or because people need a rallying point? To feel SOME connection to the
mainstream?

But Coldplay is irrelevant. Let’s just say there will be a COUPLE of new
bands that will break through and sell tickets for a year or two (if you think
Coldplay’s gonna be doing 20,000 a night three years from now, you’re dreaming,
or else they’re going to make a quantum leap in recorded material, since “X&Y”
is so bland, so repetitive, so WEAK as to be laughable to anybody truly
listening).

Are you eating your words now…?
