Guy Berryman forms a side project which is released on October 6

Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman is set to release an album with A-Ha’s Magne Furuholmen and Mew’s Jonas Bjerre. The collective, The Apparatjik, have soundtracked the new Bruce Parry BBC2 TV show ‘Amazon’ with their song ‘Ferreting’, which you can buy here.

The song appears on the forthcoming compilation album, ‘Amazon Tribe: Songs For Survival’, set for release on October 6. William, Hot Chip and KT Tunstall have also contributed songs to the soundtrack album.

The British band played yesterday in Zurich. “Ch” said before the concert with Guy Berryman.

Chris Martin is a cold, guitarist Jon Buckland feels is not healthy. How are you?
Guy Berryman: I’m cold. We sit every day in an airplane, the air conditioning is always running, your body becomes weaker and weaker. If then a cold, he puts all the others.

Moments before one of their acclaimed German performances, Coldplay was honoured by EMI Music Germany with three gold and platinum awards.

More than 300,000 Germans have bought their last album “Viva la vida”, which is a success world-wide, since its publication in June.

A reminder that BBC2 will run the second part of its major new TV series, Amazon. The show will follow presenter Bruce Parry as he travels the length of the Amazon, from its source to the sea. For an exclusive preview of the second programme, here (UK only).

The music which will soundtrack the end credits is a song called Ferreting, which was recorded by a new band formed especially for the project, Apparatjik. That group features Magne F from A-ha, Jonas Bjerre from Mew and Coldplay’s very own Guy Berryman. Ferreting is also the opening track on the fundraising album which accompanies the series, Amazon Tribe - Songs For Survival. You can hear a clip from it at the album’s MySpace page, here.
