Coldplay / Apple Style Portrait Tutorial [Video]

If you’re interested in finding out how to make a Coldplay “Viva La Vida” iTunes style portrait, here’s how. It’s even better if you play the song in the background. Makes it less monotonous…

The other day, I wrote a post regarding Hongkiat.com, and how much I loved some of the tutorials on it. I saw the Coldplay / Apple Portrait tutorial, thought it looked cool, so I decided to do it myself, then made a video tutorial of it.

“We Like Nipple Shows” Say Coldplay [XFM Broadcast Part IV]

Head here to listen to Coldplay’s best, most hilarious Residency episode yet…

Chris, Johnny and Guy turn in their most explosive Residency show yet as they turn up the heat on the Simon Pegg feud. Strip bars are also in favour, it seems…

Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland and Guy Berryman turned in their greatest performance as Xfm DJs on last Sunday’s Residency show. They mentioned strip bars, turned up the heat on their ‘feud’ with Simon Pegg and also stumbled very close to being libellous.

“We called Simon Pegg and he blatantly ignored our call”, said Chris Martin, stoking the flames of the feud that begun with the British funny man two weeks ago. “Let’s not call him at all this week. If you’ve got a DVD of Shaun Of The Dead or Hot Fuzz, take it back because that guy just doesn’t care about you and he doesn’t care about us”.

Coldplay’s Oracle would use Chris Martin as their ‘phone a friend’…

The Oracle has the answers….

August 27, 2008 - submitted by Derek, United States of America

Q. Who is Coldplay’s favorite uncle from America?

The Oracle replies:

That’d be Shawn Carter aka Jay Z. This refers to when Coldplay performed live at the BBC in June, Jay-Z was in the audience. They dedicated Lost! to him using that moniker.

Coldplay’s Oracle confirms Guy’s “Millionaire” Status

More Oraclisms….

Q. Heard a song today on XM Radio with Coldplay and Michael Stipe about God’s Love…What is the exact title and where can I find a copy of it ?? Thanks

The Oracle replies:

The track is called In the Sun. It was originally by Joseph Arthur but Michael chose it as the song to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina. It was released exclusively via iTunes back in February 2006 and you can still get it there.

Profile: Gwyneth Paltrow - Right-on turn-off

WITH her trendy Bugaboo Stroller, yoga classes and macrobiotic diet, Gwyneth Paltrow has long been the poster girl for a certain type of London lifestyle. Not the kind enjoyed by the likes of Kate Moss, obviously. You can’t imagine Paltrow drinking till dawn, snorting coke.

No, she is the epitome of the nanny-spurning, baby-food puréeing yummy mummy: effortlessly glamorous, nutritionally-obsessed, socially aware and as dull as dishwater. While the Primrose Hill set are scandalising the neighbours, in Belsize Park, one a [Read more]

“Death fascinates us” - Short interview with Will Champion

The successful British band Coldplay returns with the album “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” - but where singer Chris Martin’s voice sang of love and happiness in the past, it is now about life and death. Drummer Will Champion explains in the interview with beQueen why this has to be.

Will Champion, the new Coldplay album is called “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.” How did you come to this name?
Will Champion: We have only baptized the album “Viva la Vida”, because it is a tribute to life itself. At this time we were in Mexico City, where we visited Frida Kahlo’s house and encountered this quote. We love Kahlo’s art and were speechless in the face of the energy of the house, where the magnificent, expressive colors give a very special atmosphere. At this time we realized that we were too monotonous. We wanted to go away from black and white towards to colour. [Read more]

Coldplay’s Oracle answers 10,000th question

Smashing Coldplay strategy kept new EMI from being DOA

Five million reasons to smile: Jonny Buckland, Chris Martin

With EMI losing Paul McCartney, Radiohead and The Rolling Stones in quick succession, and with other acts on the label, such as Robbie Williams, threatening to go on strike, it wasn’t looking good for the famous imprint earlier this year.

Throw in the fact that EMI has been hoovered up by a private equity firm, and that a lot of the “music” people at the label had either jumped or been pushed, and there was speculation about its continuing existence.

Terra Firma (the new owner of EMI) had its first real test with the release of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida album two months ago. McCartney had left the label because he was dissatisfied with how it had marketed his last few albums. Williams was openly questioning if the downsized label could still “work” an album. Terra Firma’s other big signing, Sigur Rós, were looking on from the sidelines.

Could Terra Firma hack it in the music world? A lot would depend on how Viva La Vida was handled and how it performed. Launching a full price album into a market where the very concept of paying for music has become so debased was always going to be difficult. But, through a series of clever initiatives, the campaign behind Viva La Vida is now being hailed as one of the most successful of the last decade, and it will likely to pick up every PR/marketing/advertising award going at the end of the year.

Team, Mystery Jets, Mike Oldfield, Jazon Mraz and Yusuf Islam.

Coldplay to rush release new album

Please note - this is a rumour [which has since been dismissed by EMI]

  • Viva la speed-a … Coldplay will be hard at work

COLDPLAY are plotting a surprise album which could appear little more than a year after Viva La Vida conquered the planet.

The quartet already have the spine of the collection in place thanks to their super-productive recent studio sessions with BRIAN ENO.

And if CHRIS MARTIN, BERRYMAN, JONNY BUCKLAND and WILL CHAMPION follow up their new offering with a greatest hits collection they will have fulfilled all commitments to their record label, EMI.
