Coldplay Biography And Top 10 Songs

I have liked Coldplay since the release of their first single Shiver. I think it was the guitar play and Chris Martin’s voice which made me stop and listen initially and I was kinda a fan of Travis at the time who have a similar style. When Parachutes was released I was 100% won over, the album was one of my favourite and most played albums for a good few months until one of my mates threw it out of my car window on the M60 motorway because she said I played it too much. I did buy a new copy, but kept it at home where I could keep an eye on it.

Coldplay Timeline: Band Plan 06/01/1998

This was our first band plan. We wrote it in 1998. You will notice we never won Gary Crowley’s demo clash on XFM. We were always beaten by the Llama Farmers [where are they now? ~ Nettie]. Papereyes was their song and we secretly liked it very much.

CD three for deserted island: Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood To The Head

Coldplay hails from London, England, where the members met in the residence hall of University College London in the autumn of 1996. Since then, they have released three full-length albums on Parlophone/Capitol Records. Their debut album, Parachutes, gained rave reviews and even a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002 (“A Rush of Blood to the Head”). Coldplay was then launched into the spotlight and had to follow this record with anything to keep them afloat.

A Rush of Blood to the Head was recorded in London by producers Ken Nelson and Chris Allison. The band consisted of original members: Guy Berryman (Bass Guitar), John Buckland (Lead Guitar), Will Champion (Drums), and Chris Martin (Piano, Guitars, and Lead Vocals) (Coldplay: Official Site). Coldplay themselves helped produce this album as well. A Rush of Blood to the Head was released in August of 2002 to a larger fan base and more eager critics than before. Debuting at number one in the United Kingdom and number five in the United States, A Rush of Blood to the Head insured Coldplay’s place in music history as one of the best acts of their time (“A Rush of Blood to the Head”).

SONG OF THE WEEK: IN MY PLACE

In My Place

In my place, in my place,
Were lines that I couldn’t change,
I was lost, oh yeah.

I was lost, I was lost,
Crossed lines I shouldn’t have crossed,
I was lost, oh yeah.

And yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?

I was scared, I was scared,
Tired and under prepared,
But I wait for it.

And if you go, if you go,
Leave me down here on my own,
Then I’ll wait for you, yeah.

Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Oh for it

Sing it please, please, please,
Come back and sing to me,
To me, me.

Come on and sing it out, now, now.
Come on and sing it out
To me, me
Come back and sing.

In my place, in my place,
Were lines that I couldn’t change,
I was lost, oh yeah.
Oh yeah.

Coldplay’s School of rock

From Coldplay and Pulp to The Who and Pink Floyd, much of modern music flourished in the capital’s seats of higher learning.

A new straw poll, conducted by the Times Higher Education Supplement, reveals where the musicians chose to study.

Heading the pack are London’s King’s College and University College, which between them spawned members of Bloc Party, Queen, The Communards, Art Of Noise, Coldplay, Keane, Suede, Elastica and Basement Jaxx.
