“We Like Nipple Shows” Say Coldplay [XFM Broadcast Part IV]

Head here to listen to Coldplay’s best, most hilarious Residency episode yet…

Chris, Johnny and Guy turn in their most explosive Residency show yet as they turn up the heat on the Simon Pegg feud. Strip bars are also in favour, it seems…

Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland and Guy Berryman turned in their greatest performance as Xfm DJs on last Sunday’s Residency show. They mentioned strip bars, turned up the heat on their ‘feud’ with Simon Pegg and also stumbled very close to being libellous.

“We called Simon Pegg and he blatantly ignored our call”, said Chris Martin, stoking the flames of the feud that begun with the British funny man two weeks ago. “Let’s not call him at all this week. If you’ve got a DVD of Shaun Of The Dead or Hot Fuzz, take it back because that guy just doesn’t care about you and he doesn’t care about us”.

Swizz Beatz gets Coldplay’s permission to release ‘That Oprah’

Superstar producer Swizz Beatz recently revealed that he will be releasing “That Oprah” as an official single and will be shooting a video for it. “That Oprah” samples Coldplay’s hit song “Viva la Vida” with Swizz rapping about his love for the legal tender. [Listen to “That Oprah”]

“The record started off a freestyle, then the traction went real major,” Swizz told MTV. “Being that I’ve got a relationship with Coldplay already — I’ve worked with them a while back — I was like, I wanna turn it into a real record. I took care of the legal side. I’m about to shoot a video to that. Plus, that’s where I wanna be at musically anyway. The remix is gonna be crack.” [Read more]

Coldplay For Free? You Betcha.

The Interwebs prove to be a wonderful thing as band delivers new song.

Unless you’re a diehard Coldplay fan chances are you’re completely unaware that the band has been road testing a new track entitled “Death Will Never Conquer” on their current tour.

While hearing this new track live is undoubtedly a special treat, the band have gone one further.

They are currently offering up a version of the song, for free (that’s right, f-r-e-e) on their website.

Our philosophy is that if something is free, take advantage of it.

Oh yeah, you might pass this info along to a friend, so they can enjoy the music, as well.

Coldplay’s XFM Residency [Week 3] Online

Simon Pegg vs Coldplay – Feud Continues.

Part III of Coldplay’s XFM Residency is now online. You can listen to it here.

In the third eventful part of Coldplay’s Xfm Residency last night, Simon Pegg once again dodged the world’s biggest band’s phone calls. Admitting they “didn’t have great radio personalities, but have buckets of enthusiasm and passion”, Coldplay tried calling the star of Spaced and Shaun Of The Dead to add spice to their show.

Simon Pegg Blanks Coldplay On Xfm [2nd Residency Show]

The Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz star snubs Coldplay during their second Residency show on Xfm. “He probably doesn’t like us”, says Chris.

Simon Pegg refused to take Coldplay’s calls as the band attempted to “raise the comedy levels” on their second Residency show last night. Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland and Guy Berryman tried calling the Brit star as one of the band’s own jokes – something about two Nuns and a bar of soap - fell flat. Musing on why Pegg didn’t pick up, Chris said, “He probably doesn’t like us anymore”. The Mirror are currently blowing this feud up to an even more ridiculous proportion than us… [Read more]

Novel feat. Coldplay - Lost (Remix)

I knew I wasn’t the only one who heard the original version of Coldplay’s Lost from Viva La Vida and thought that the opening melody sounded a bit like a Hip Hop sample. MC Novel was smart enough to amp up the track a bit and throw his sixteen bars over the original making the song a bit more emotional and personal. We don’t know so much about Novel yet but lyricaly he sounds promising. Check out the link below to check out the song.

REVIEWS

After the onslaught that was Justice, I decided I needed something a little more chilled out. I managed to catch the last few tracks of Coldplay and I thought they were great. Admittedly, I have never really been a fan and probably couldn’t name any of their songs, but they were great live. Chris Martin’s voice is fantastic and the band are equal to his part. I kind of wish I could’ve seen more but with a line-up as good as today it isn’t all that easy.

Coldplay: Beyond Introspection (NPR Interview) [Audio]

World Cafe, August 8, 2008 - One of the most successful and popular bands of the decade, Coldplay made a name for itself with a string of introspective pop hits.

But its new album marks a step in a different direction. With Viva La Vida, Coldplay expands its repertoire as Chris Martin’s distinctive falsetto coexists with greater orchestration and more varied pop and rock sounds.

Hear the interview with Coldplay here as it stops by WXPN’s World Cafe with David Dye.

Coldplay Newsreel: From A-ha to SFA on Xfm

Good morning. Coldplay recently recorded a radio show for  London-based alternative music station, Xfm. As well as playing everything from A-ha’s The Living Daylights (”woah-oh-oh-oh”) to Du Hast by Rammstein, they talked between songs. You can hear it here. But not here.

The Xfm Residency - Coldplay [Audio]

Have a listen to what tracks Coldplay decided to play in the first part of their Residency. Move over John Kennedy, Chris Martin’s in town!

Three quarters of Coldplay came into Xfm to demonstrate their DJ-ing skills and play their favourite tracks. The band produced some hilarious links where the giggles got the better of them, but as Chris Martin explains: “that’s Colplay for you, always bumming around”. [Read more]
