Paltrow named Save The Children ambassador

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been appointed as an ambassador for the Save The Children charity.

The Shakespeare In Love star will play an active role in the organization’s three-year plan to reduce the number of kids dying from preventable diseases around the world.

Paltrow, who has two children, Apple, three, and Moses, one, with husband Chris Martin, recently announced she’s “putting movies on the backburner” to spend more time at home.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you guys are all having a great break. I’ve spent a lot of my time sleeping….

And, aren’t those Lindt easter bunny chocolates yummy? You should try some.

Gwyneth is Better Than Us?

Mom•Logic’s Andrea asks: Are we brainwashed to think celebrities are better mothers?

The press has once again breathlessly proclaimed a celebrity Mom will take a break from her career to concentrate full-time on motherhood. Said Gwyneth Paltrow at the Prince’s Trust Awards in London, “I’m not doing another film until next [autumn]. Everything is about family, I’m putting movies on a backburner.”

Can you just see her and hubby Coldplay frontman Chris Martin going over their household budget to see if they could make it on a single income? Neither can I. Yet, why is it when I first read Gwyn’s quote I was impressed? I thought to myself. “Wow, she’s so amazing, what an inspiration. If Gwyneth Paltrow can take time off to be with her kids so can I!

Then I snapped out of it.

The Wiggles - A Tribute to Greg Page [Ft Coldplay's Yellow]

For the first time, Coldplay’s elliptical song “Yellow” made complete sense to me when I saw a tribute to the Yellow Wiggle, aka Greg Page, set to the tune on YouTube.com.

Page had to hand over his yellow skivvy in late 2006 because of a diagnosis of orthostatic intolerance, a nervous system disorder.

Ouch! The worst album titles of our times

Madonna and Coldplay may have failed to come up with crackers for their new album titles, but the likes of “Hard Candy” and “Viva La Vida” seem positively inspired compared to these monstrous monikers. Read on for our list of the worst album titles in recent memory.

10. Sugababes: Taller In More Ways (2005)
However much you think about it, this title never quite makes sense.

Coldplay Remix - Fix You Stuck In Reverse

Here’s a groovy, dancy Coldplay Remix which I found on this site. I’m not actually sure who remixed it, as no credit is given. I like it, but I can’t see what it has to do with Fix You…

PM Gordon Brown listens to Coldplay

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has revealed he’s a huge fan of Amy Winehouse - and insists she’s “simply misunderstood”.

Gordon, 57, said of the troubled ‘Rehab’ star: “She is incredibly talented, with an incredible voice.

“I’m a big fan. She may be troubled but as much as anything I think she’s simply misunderstood.

“She is as talented as she is misunderstood.”

Gordon also claims to own an iPod - and even listens to Coldplay, U2, Leona Lewis, with Bach and Mozart thrown in for good measure.

Will Coldplayesque ads be the trend once again…?

Obviously, current musical trends play a strong role in what music houses are asked to approximate. Back in the late ’90s, every agency was asking for ad music that sounded like Fatboy Slim. Then everything had to sound like Alanis. Then a few years ago, you couldn’t avoid endless rip-offs of the “Lust For Life” drumbeat. Then it was Coldplay, especially “Clocks.” I’ve noticed that every TV spot from the last few months seems to be ripping off the innocent-yet-melancholy acoustic music from the Apple iPhone TV spots.

And of course, the goal is to come close to the style without getting so close that you end up in court. Which does happen once in a while.

Mick Jagger reckons Coldplay has Rolling Stone longevity

Q: Do you think any other bands will keep going like the Rolling Stones have?

A: No-one has done what we do. Maybe U2 will keep going. Coldplay possibly. I’d never say how long we’ll keep going. It’s not going to be forever. All things must come to an end, that’s just a universal truth.
