Meet the new penguins — septuagenarians, octogenarians and even the occasional nonagenarian. That would be 70-, 80- and 90-somethings in plain language — the stars of the Sundance Film Festival’s Young@Heart, about a senior-citizen chorus group that tries to reclaim a little vigor by tackling punk, rock and R&B songs. There were moments of poignancy: among them, Fred Knittle, suffering from congestive heart failure and breathing with the aid of an oxygen tank, crooning in a rich, deep voice Coldplay’s Fix You, lending the song an entirely different dimension.

It’s all the more heartbreaking to know his solo rendition was originally planned as a duet. Only U2 expressed their refusal to use their songs. “Everyone else we could get,” Director Stephen Walker said. “Coldplay, no problem at all. They were absolutely fine about it. Talking Heads, really no problem at all. There was a helluva lot of music to clear in the film. We got the Jimi Hendrix estate to sign off, and they came on board. There’s a ton of music.”

We had only been in American for a few days and we were playing these massive radio festivals. Most of the crowd were there for Aerosmith, Stain’d and Korn, so they weren’t so into the Coldplay thing and we spent most of our 15 minutes on the stage in Washington avoiding bottles and CDs and other well aimed missiles.

I went to the Jimmy Kimmel website and it says new 5th anniversary episode surprise music performance by Coldplay and some other chick is going to be the guest ITS TRUE!!!!!

It says Sarah Silverman presents Jimmy with a very special, unforgettable surprise for the show’s 5th anniversary! so its new episode!!

In response to someone named Travis on Coldplay’s official Facebook page that referred to the album as Prospekt.

Debs Wild, Coldplay’s online editor reports that: “…the album will NOT be called Prospekt. The name did initially have relevance to the album, but not anymore. It’s a pseudonym, if you will, of the person who writes the studio journals.”

In 2007, content found on Coldplay’s new site hinted that the new album title may be Prospekt. The site also included notes on sessions with Eno and Markus Dravs, stating that the lyrics are “much more abstract, much more visual than before,” and that the music is “less straight-forward, more oblique.”

Beth Ditto and Coldplay had to fit in around each other at Air Studios in London’s Hampstead after both wanted to use the same room, it has been revealed by The Mirror.

Lucky Coldplay fan yamfox received these groovy signed Coldplay pictures by writing to the following address, which seems to be the ‘official’ fanmail address for Coldplay:

Actress GWYNETH PALTROW has vowed to stay away from the U.S. after a recent traumatic confrontation with photographers in New York.
The Oscar winner was pounced upon by the paparazzi during a visit to Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital last week (14Jan08).
Paltrow insists the media attention in American is much worse than in London, where she lives with her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin and their two children Apple, three, and one-year-old Moses.
A friend of the couple tells U.S. publication the Chicago Sun Times that the star has vowed to rarely “cross the pond, unless I absolutely have to for work”.
The source adds, “Gwyneth was truly frightened by the intensity of the whole thing. She was feeling fragile at the moment and didn’t need to face that.” The couple was overwhelmed by photographers when they left the New York medical centre where Paltrow was being treated for “a gastrointestinal situation”. Martin was later videotaped chasing a member of the paparazzi and grabbing his camera while shouting, “You’ve gotta have some respect”.
