Martin says ‘pressure is a catalyst’

Coldplay’s Chris Martin has posted a handwritten blog on Coldplay.com about the progress the band have made on their new album.

The group are currently working on the follow-up to 2005’s ‘X&Y’.

Despite their last public outing taking place over a year ago, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and ‘Coldplay’ frontman Chris Martin still remain very much a couple - after concerns surrounding the state of the couple’s relationship arose, surface after Gwyneth attended several high-profile events without Chris.

According to London’s Metro newspaper, a spokesperson for the ‘Running with Scissors’ actress claims that the couple have a mutual policy not to go out publicly together.

The spokesperson claimed: ‘As a policy, Gwyneth and Chris do not talk about each other in the media, nor do they attend public functions together.’

They reportedly agreed on the policy after Chris was cautioned by police after allegedly attacking a photographer outside a restaurant in 2004.

They were last pictured in September 2006 at a party for rapper Jay-Z at London’s Movida club.

The couple married in December 2003 and have three-year-old daughter, Apple.

Chris Martin has marked the first time he heard his band on Xfm as one of the finest moments in Coldplay’s career so far, via a journal entry on their official website.

Martin reveals the exactly moment that Coldplay first heard themselves on air on 104.9 Xfm, at exactly 3.45am on April 18 1999, via a journal timeline which displays written excerpts, pictures and videos at www.coldplay.com.

The written excerpt says: “18th April 1999 Me & Tim hear Brothers and Sisters at 3.45am in the morning on Xfm”

Although I am enjoying The Tudors on BBC2, the Showtime period drama hasn’t quite lived up to my (possibly too high) expectations and media hype. This oh-so-slight disappointment meant that when watching the onscreen posturing of the impossibly pouty Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII on Friday night, I became distracted by his background crony William Compton played by Kris Holden-Reid. This chum of the kings seemed to bear an uncanny resemble to falsetto warbler and hubby to Gwyneth Paltrow, Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

With their two pictures lined up, I am more convinced of the similarities: the beards, slightly messy hair and wide foreheads. Granted Chris Martin’s blue eyes are more boggly and scary than anything Holden-Reid could muster, while the actor is decked out in finery even Martin’s music royalties would struggle to finance – but the resemblance is there. Uncanny.

CHRIS MARTIN has finally paid attention to warnings about his horrendous barnet.

The COLDPLAY frontman had been sporting a 1970s Afro that made him look worryingly like KEVIN GODLEY from 10CC.

But as my picture of Chris in London shows, it’s curl over at last. He has changed his style for the winter and gone for a close crop.

I doubt a celeb crimper has been employed a la Beckham, charging £300 for a No2 all over.

No, it looks to me like he went for a five quid job at his local barber.
