The home for everything Coldplay - bringing you all that’s cool and happening in Coldplayland. Thanks for visiting! Viva La Vida Baby!

Coldplay would make music - for free!

A true artist desires one thing more than any other. To get his music EXPOSED!

Oh, the labels will say it’s all about the money. Well, maybe it is to the execs, who are sans talent and sans mission, that’s probably why they said that Napster would kill music. Maybe their PROFITS were threatened, but music would live on just fine. Because the people who make it, THEY’VE GOT TO MAKE IT!

Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Paris Hilton wouldn’t make music if it were free, but Radiohead would, and so would Coldplay.

NETTIE’S GLASTONBURY 2007 REPORT

Got back from Glastonbury yesterday evening. Please check out my pictures that I took here [there are some captions - different things I remember]. I did take video, but it will take ages for me to upload anything, I’m afraid. The highlights for me were:

The Killers’ [killer set. Lovely stage setup, cool fireworks and Brandon Flowers in gold lame with diamante. The bass got way too heavy towards the end due to engineers trying to rectify a power outtage]
Dame Shirley Bassey [she bought tears to my eyes when she sang 'Goldfinger'. What a legend!]
The Enemy [finally caught up with those scallywags. They're awesome].
Being able to see what was going on backstage - people going on and off stage, like when Paolo Nutini was about to walk up the steps to the stage, he smiled at me 8)].
Meeting Zane Lowe [What a nice bloke. And I got some lurve... :o)]
Friends texting me to say they saw me on TV a few times [whilst The Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party were on. If that's not interactive TV, I dunno what is.]
Finally seeing The Arctic Monkeys perform ‘505′ with Alex Turner on keyboards [also their rendition of 'Diamonds Are Forever' was a nice tribute to Shirley Bassey. Shame she kind of dissed them by saying 'Arctic Monkeys, now that's how it's done' when she performed. She backtracked afterwards]
Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke jumping down and going towards the crowd during ‘She’s Hearing Voices’. What a brave guy.
The enormity of Worthy Farm. It’s absolutely huge!
Saying hello to Emily Eavis/Jo Whiley and Edith Bowman
Checking out bands I hadn’t seen before [The Horrors were great, as well as The Holloways and The Noisettes]
The Who [lovely to see them and they were rockin'. To hear all those songs that you know like 'Won't Get Fooled Again' and 'My Generation' live and direct, there's nothing like it. And, they make every single gig they do available on DVD - Coldplay please take note...]

There were loads of bands that I missed, due to the fact that I had a bad back for the first two days, so stuck with The Pyramid Stage, but no matter. I’ll probably catch up with them sooner or later.

I am glad to be able to sleep in my own bed though. The weather was truly horrible. It rained most of the time and the mud was horrendous. Sometimes ankle deep, other times almost knee deep. There were loads of different booths and shops and bars with live music, so you never got bored and I met some really lovely people. The Glastonbury Spirit was very apparent and I understand why people go back year after year.

If Coldplay return, so might I…

Gwyneth Paltrow takes a knock on the knees

Whatever has happened to Gwyneth Paltrow? Surely Pilates isn’t classified as a dangerous sport.

The 34-year old Shallow Hal star was seen leaving a hair salon hobbling on a pair of crutches after injuring her right knee.

Her glossy Hollywood look was slightly ruined by the standard issue supports, along with her heavily bandaged knee, but at least she managed to get to the hair salon, despite the obvious impediment to her mobility.

Known almost as well for her macrobiotic diet as she is for her acting, clearly Gwyneth has found out it isn’t the cure for all of her health issues.

The Mother-of-two, who has been forced to take a short break from filming her latest movie Iron Man, in which she stars with Robert Downey Jnr, will no doubt be hopping mad (groan).

Usually, the shy and retiring actress is determined not to be spotted by fans or the press and buries her head in her hands, or holds a bag up to her face.

Perhaps this is how she injured herself in the first place.

But now, Gwyneth, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 30, and lives in north London with their children Apple, three, and Moses, 18 months, doesn’t have a free hand to hide herself.

Coldplay will go to Glastonbury ‘anytime’

The gates have opened for this year’s Glastonbury Festival, and founder Michael Eavis spoke ahead of the event about its expansion, line-up and future.

“Go on, fire away.” Mr Eavis, speaking from his Somerset farm where he founded the festival 37 years ago, is in a hurry.

“I haven’t got much time, okay? Just start talking.”

Entry from Prospekt

The control room is tiny. Literally smaller than my bedroom. The live room isn’t much bigger. About the size of the rehearsal room we used to have pre-record deal.

Brian Eno sits behind his laptop towards the back of the control room. A benevolent schoolmaster with the unquestioning respet of his charges. When he speaks, we listen.

Markus Dravg [sp] prowls around the room like a big cat in a zoo. A heavyweight boxer with a paintbrush.

‘So Sad’ Extract: First Coldplay Song Ever written

Here is an an extract of the song ‘So Sad’, the first song even written and performed by Coldplay, even before the demo Ode To Deodorant. Relating to a 1998 official video, Debs said that the song that follows ‘So Sad’ is ‘Panic’ divided into 2 different parts (the last one is the last line of the song). You can download it here [thanks coldpatrix & Debs Wild].

EMI: 4th Coldplay Album Expected Feb/Mar 2008

Rumours have been flying about recently regarding the release date for Coldplay’s follow up album to X&Y. A source close to EMI, Coldplay’s record company, said the fourth album will in all probability be on the shelves around February to March 2008.

In addition, while as yet unconfirmed, a special DVD containing extracts of the recent Latin America Tour of early 2007, which included Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, may be released simultaneously. This would explain the ‘Part I’ unreleased material from Toronto in March 2006, which was only previously available as TV footage. Part II perhaps?

You can discuss this news here.

Meanwhile, Coldplay fans have been petitioning in their droves for Coldplay to revive the Toronto DVD from the EMI grave.
