Whoops! Coldplay loses a fan…

Here’s a story posted by dajrekshn

Hi
My name is Paola Avaria, and I live in Valparaíso, Chile. Today Mr. Chris Martin visited the museum where I worked.

I was a big fan of Coldplay, until today. I was so trill that Mr. Martin was going to visit the place I work, I wanted to go to Santiago to attend the show this week, but I don´t have a car, so I can`t go. It was too far for me to attend the recital of the band. So when I knew he was going to visit the museum, I was so happy…but Mr. Martin was very rude to me.

I said hi, and I introduce myself as a big fan of his band, he said hi and kept walking. The person in charge, told me to ask him if he wanted to have a guide or if he prefered to go by himself, then he turned into a coworker, and apparentely he wanted to be guided by her, so this coworker told him that I was the one who guided the visitors in English at the museum, and he loked at me saying no, I rather go on my own…He maked me feel like trash, just exactly the way the man I liked…reyected, when I was so respectfull…to be honest…he made me cry…and now…I don`t Know how I`m going to feel when I hear their songs…Mr Martin and the music of the band made me feel so peaceful, it was so refreshing to hear them, it made me feel so light, so happily quiet, and what it was most important, full of hope…but today…today I felt like a piece of trash…reyected…and I feel so sad…

I am sorry… I know that all the people here write good and nice things about Colplay…but I had to express my feelings tonight…today their play was cold for me.

Somehow, I feel I don`t deserved this unkindness from him, because after all, I am also a human being, and I feel, and maybe I am more sensitive than others, and that`s the thing; I thougth Mr. Martin was like that, too…but I was wrong.

Maybe, in the future, the play will turn cold for him, too…maybe somebody very closed to him, or somebody he admires very much… will make him feel reyected, just the way he made me feel today

How about be professional at your job and people will treat you as a professional….he went to a museum, not a fan meet and greet. After he was done, then say you enjoy his band. If I were him and started straight off with the Coldplay stuff, I would have choose someone else or to go alone as well, I can’t stand it when people are chatty while I’m in a museum.

Everyone seems to have such high expectations of Chris. It doesn’t really seem fair. I understand the disappointment, but I don’t understand what Chris did to make this fan cry. Was Chris really not being nice, to the point of being mean enough to make someone cry and feel rejected? It’s hard to say from the story I read. And why is everyone so quick to judge Chris’s behavior while the rest of the band gets to enjoy being less recognizable when they’re out on their own, but Chris is always bothered? It sounds like the band, and especially Chris, is really getting hounded by the fans in South America. I’m sure it’s out of love and excitement, but can we really expect Chris to always be “on” for every fan all the time? He must have been looking for some quiet time if he was at a museum all by himself. If he knew how he made this fan feel, I think Chris would do something to make it up to her. I still have enough faith in him as a basically good human being to believe that. I wish more fans did. Please try to remember he’s not perfect, only human like the rest of us. If this is the reaction of fans, after all the band has tried to do by touring South America, going outside the hotel to sign autographs and take photos, giving away free tickets, and putting on a great show, then why on earth would Coldplay want to keep trying, when all the good is forgotten, and one bad moment of Chris’s becomes the talk of the internet? It’s gotta suck to be them sometimes. Yes, it would be wonderful if Chris was Mr. Charming 100% of the time, but he’s not, and that’s just the way it is. That doesn’t make him an evil stuck-up snob with a big head who doesn’t appreciate his fans. It just makes him Chris Martin of Coldplay, whose music we love. Let him be.

  3. The jury is out for me on this as far as I’m concerned. I wasn’t there, also it’s a translation, so something may have been lost - perhaps…?

Also - there’s ways of saying things and there’s ways of saying things. Depends on how it was said.
