NETTIE’S CHRIS MARTIN AT UNION CHAPEL REVIEW [AUDIO]

Sorry folks that I haven’t been online much lately. I’m very busy at the present time. However, I did read in Saturday’s Mirror of the rumour that Chris Martin was going to duet with Lily Allen at the Union Chapel in Islington. Well, Islington is my old manor, and not very far from where I live, so I tried to see if I could get a ticket. I contacted Seetickets after seeing it advertised online, but they confirmed over the phone that the gig was sold out.

However, being a determined Nettie, I decided to go to the venue anyhow, with the hope of perhaps getting a returned ticket or even worse, a ticket from a tout [yes, perish the thought, but desperate times call for desperate measures].

Jonny in the studio with Jay-Z as well?

A website claims that Chris Martin got some help while producing a track with Jay-Z: Jonny Buckland, our lovely Coldplay guitarist, was appearently part of the collaboration as well.

The article says: Changing pace again, the album them drops the incendiary Beach Chair featuring, of all people, Chris Martin and Jon Buckland, of Coldplay. It’s a fine collaboration and possibly one of the boldest on the long-player, given the gulf in musical composition that generally separates these three artists.

At least both Chris and Jonny came along for Jay-Z’s special gig at the Royal Albert Hall in September [all three of them pictured at the aftershow party] As soon as we know more, you’ll find out here!

CHRIS MARTIN AND LILY ALLEN TO DUET

IT is one of the more interesting musical meetings we’ve heard of this year.

We can reveal that Coldplay’s Chris Martin is set to join Lily Allen on stage for a charity gig on Monday.

James Morrison and The Automatic are also in the bill for the week-long Mencap’s Little Noise sessions at the Union Chapel in Islington, London.

Our mole says: “Chris was the surprise guest this Wednesday but pulled out because he was ill. He can’t wait to meet Lily as he is a massive fan.”

Hope she’s gentle with him!

Rex Grossman loves Coldplay

Fox asks players to reveal certain trivia about their lives. Rex Grossman’s favorite band is Coldplay, favorite Chicago spot is Rush Street and his favorite destination is Rome. His first job was as a cable guy, and his worst job was shoveling manure on a farm.

Chris Martin & Kids Home Alone

No, Gwyneth Paltrow hasn’t left her husband and two toddlers to elope with sexy, Spanish ballet dancer Ángel Corrella [pictured below] - a couple of days ago, she was in Amsterdam to promote the Freixenet wine advertisement they shot a couple of weeks ago in Barcelona and left Chris & the kids at home in London.

In an interview with Spanish magazine ‘Hola’, Gwyneth told us that Moses and Apple are at home with their daddy Chris and said, jokingly: “We’ll see if they survive with him.” She also mentioned that Moses is a bit ill and has a temperature, and that big sister Apple is learning Spanish in the meantime, already knowing some words like “agua” (water) and “arriba! arriba!” when she wants someone to take her in their arms.

Gwyneth doesn’t have to worry about leaving the two kids with daddy Chris alone anymore - she’s already back in London, united with her loving family.

Bowie And Coldplay To Auction Off Shoes For Charity

A host of stars have contributed their shoes to be auctioned off for the charity MAG (Mines Advisory Group).

Coldplay, David Bowie, Ringo Starr and Lily Allen are just some of the artists who have signed their footwear for the auction.

They will be joined by Johnny Marr, Editors’ Tom Smith, Keane’s Tim-Rice Oxley and Nina Persson from The Cardigans.

The executive director of MAG, Lou McGrath, said: “The support from celebrities for the shoe auction has been fantastic and resulted in an impressive collection of footwear. The money raised will play a vital role in clearing the remnants of conflict, preventing injuries and deaths and regenerating communities. The money is especially needed for our work in Lebanon, where the UN estimates there are around 100,000 unexploded bombs at 359 separate sites.”

Bids will continue until 8th December. For more information visit www.magclearsmines.org.

Jay-Z and Coldplay’s ‘Beach Chair’ works!

He saves the first real experiment for last: Jay-Z and Coldplay. It works. On “Beach Chair,” Chris Martin creates a dramatic soundscape with a martial beat for Jay-Z to reflect on the karmic notion of where he’s been and what he’ll leave behind. “No compass comes with this life,” he offers, “Just eyes/so to map it out/you must look inside.”

No compass comes with being a 37-year-old zillionaire rapper, either, and Jay struggles with it a bit on “Kingdom Come.” We can say it’s no “Blueprint,” but then again, what is?

British by night in L.A.

Cool prevails

What might seem strange is that the popularity of British music is actually on the decline in the U.S. Whereas the classic English groups of the ’60s and ’70s were dominant market forces, and the punk and new wave groups that followed were successful, the ensuing waves of British music have made less and less of a splash as hip-hop became ascendant and American acts have hogged rock’s shrinking limelight.

Successors to stadium-worthy acts such as Oasis, Radiohead and Coldplay might be noticeably absent, but in L.A.’s Anglophile undercurrent, it’s never necessarily been about what’s popular. It’s about what’s cool, and that extends to the look.
