HARDEST PART VIDEO PREMIERE REVIEW

When I first watched the new video for The Hardest Part, my initial response was “this is awful. The worst Coldplay video I’ve ever seen!”. But after a few more plays, I can see that it’s a very well made piece and really quite funny. The onus isn’t on the band at all, but on the performers, who do some pretty death-defying moves. The 84-year-old female dancer is amazing and very supple [she puts me to shame doing the splits and stuff. I can't tell you the last time I was able to do that. I think I was 5].

I love the way the band have been edited into the timewarp of an actual 80’s TV show. It’s seamless. I love the little extras - the cloak being thrown on stage, Chris taking off his sunglasses in amazement at one of the dance moves, him and Jonny having a laugh at what’s going on, the fact that you can see Jonny rockin’ on the side of the stage as the performers do their stuff. And I’m very pleased with what I call the ‘Guycoverage’. He’s rockin’ away like nobody’s business. He’s a proper little mover [more please! :D]. And Chris looks like Sonny Crockett with his finger stuck in a power socket. Will looks cool crooning behind the drums and Jonny’s t-shirt… Well, it makes a change from the norm…LOL

Overall, it’s a great video. We’ll see how it stands the test of time…

    it sucks pretty badly. Compared to past videos, this is the absolute worst out of all of them. I mean, Yellow is even better than this one and he was just walking around…My hopes were high for this vid and I was brutally disappointed. I don’t know who the concept was made by but they should be fired! If it was Coldplay’s idea..then…I guess I can forgive them for this disaster….

    this is the most hilarious thing I have seen in a while - I nearly wet myself last nite when it was shown and had to show all my colleageues today. Hats off to Coldplay for really cheering me up - can you give me the number of that old lady’s pilates instructor someone??!!

    Well, it’s pretty weird, isn’t it? The song is great and the band’s members are absolutely hot but I just don’t understand why an old women and a young man doing gymnastic, it’s just completly weird. I prefer the other videos.

    LOL i’ve finally made my mind up too
    and i find it hilarious and a bit cringworthy, but the band are placed seamlessly as is their music to the footage.
    The band looks great especially Guy, doing he’s 80’s-esque moves!

    I thought it was great. I kind of freaked out the first time I tried to watch it, and stopped it in the middle, but then I watched it again and was sucked into it’s greatness.
