Dallas 26/02/2006 Review/Setlist/Pix

Dave Johnston has taken a bunch of pictures and videos which you can view here.

This review from AmolG2X…

I LOVED how Chris was making jokes about how they don’t do endorsements, and then he started talking about KFC and George Foreman grills. Absolutely hilarious.

Also, if anyone noticed during White Shadows…on the screen they had some weird black and white thing going on. You could see the tape on Chris’s hand clearly highlighted. Thought that was pretty cool

I think the setlist was…

Square One
Politik
Yellow
Speed of Sound
GPASUYF
X&Y
How You See The World No.2
Don’t Panic
White Shadows
The Scientist
Til Kingdom Come / Ring of Fire
Trouble
Clocks
Talk

Swallowed In The Sea
In My Place
Fix You

And this from MartinPaltrow…

Pop: See how Coldplay shines

Band pitssparkling showmanship against Fiona Apple’s flair for fury

Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, made every member of the massive American Airlines Center audience feel spoken to on Sunday night.

Coldplay wants to salve your pain; Fiona Apple wants you to feel hers. They were a contrast in styles Sunday night at American Airlines Center, a big arena band that filled AAC with balladic rock and a feisty singer who channeled her anger into song without taking it out on her audience.

Playing Dallas for the second time on its X&Y tour, Coldplay balanced showmanship and earnestness with an efficiency that travels well from its UK base to the States, where the band’s albums fly off the shelf like iPods the week of Christmas. Lead singer Chris Martin, whose recent comments have led to speculation on the band’s breakup, has the rock star’s gift of making every member of a massive arena crowd feel spoken to.

Storming the charts

It is looking as though Chico Time has come around far too quickly for queen of pop Madonna.

The ex goat-herder is giving Madge a run for her money as his new single flies off the shelves of record stores nationwide.

Early week predictions are estimating Chico will knock Madonna’s new hit Sorry down to number two after just one week at the top of the charts.
Not only is cheeky Chico looking to take over the pop world, he is also trying to add some showbiz names to his address book.

Robbie Williams and Coldplay are among those said to be huge fans of the cheesy ex stripper.

James McMurtry’s political anthem causing stir across the nation

Radio stations across the country are making a bold move by adding the single (which clocks in at over seven minutes) into regular rotation. “I can honestly say we have received more calls either asking who that was or saying ‘that was really great’ than any song we’re playing right now, including songs by superstars like Coldplay and U2,”.

‘Kidz Bop’ albums play to preteen set

The fact that you can buy a Mickey Mouse CD player or a Hello Kitty! boom box may not seem culturally compelling, but in fact each is a potent sign of the times in pop music. More than ever, grade-school students constitute a coveted demographic for music, and their tastes have, for better or worse, tilted pop culture in dramatic ways over the last decade. If Radio Disney, the career of Hilary Duff and the massive sales of ‘N Sync and Backstreet Boys weren’t proof enough, ask yourself why people such as Johnny Depp and Ice Cube now show up at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

More evidence arrives this week when a curious CD called “Kidz Bop 9″ is expected to debut in the Top 10 of the nation’s album chart.

The CD features hit songs, among them Green Day’s “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” Coldplay’s “Speed of Sound” and Gwen Stefani’s “Cool.” But instead of the familiar versions by those artists, here you get a gaggle of kids belting them out in a style that might be described as a summer camp sing-along.

‘I’ve cracked the mystery of life by having a family’

GWYNETH PALTROW is taking her critically acclaimed stage performance to the big screen in Proof, just released nationwide. She talks about her excitement at her second pregnancy - and tells EILEEN CONDON why she and Chris Martin are not as dull as people think

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is blossoming, not least because of her little girl Apple, the two-year old who has completely transformed her life.

The reason the willowy star has never looked better is that she’s pregnant with her second child. What’s more, the normally reticent Gwyneth simply can’t wait to tell you that motherhood is her favourite role of all.

“I feel my main responsibility is being a parent now,” says the Oscar-winning star. “Having Apple changed everything for me. It’s completely changed the way I see the world. I cannot believe the way my life has turned around. I have a great husband, a beautiful daughter and another baby on the way. I feel very, very fortunate.”

In fact the actress, who is married to Chris Martin, lead singer of Brit band Coldplay, says she’s never been happier.

Houston, TX 25/02/2006 Review

This review from suzyqtexas

Coldplay was AWESOME!! All of the posts about the guys not having any energy is way off base. They didn’t play everything I wanted to hear (Shiver, Amsterdam or Moses), but I knew that they wouldn’t, so no big deal. The crowd was pumped and Chris was incredible for knowing Houston was starting “Rodeo” time and making jokes to reference that. Plus, when Will put on someone’s cowboy hat while playing Ring of Fire - PRICELESS!! Wish I had that hat…or the cell phone of that lucky girl that Chris sang into…

Don’t know how I’ll be able to stand waiting for the next concert. I hope it’s sooner rather than later…or at least release a new tour DVD to keep me busy until then!

Houston Loves Coldplay - thank you guys for such an INCREDIBLE show!
Woo Hoo and Yeehaw!!!!
