ABBEY ROAD COLDPLAY CONCERT BROKE LAW

COLDPLAY broke licensing laws when they performed a gig for BBC radio at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios earlier this month (FEB06).

The studios, where THE BEATLES recorded many of their hits and an album of the same name, does not have a live entertainment license and could be fined $34,000 (GBP20,000) for staging a concert there.

The performance, which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in April (06), was watched by a tiny crowd of competition winners - frontman CHRIS MARTIN even joked “we usually play to more people at our soundchecks” - but is still considered a public event by Westminster Council.

Officials will decided whether to prosecute the BBC and Abbey Road over the next two weeks.
