ah screw it, i’ll just post the review in this thread and submit it to ian for an official review later.

so we got downtown about 5 to pick up tickets and go eat dinner. picked up the tickets at the box office (i was absolutely elated and relieved to be holding them) and then we ate dinner. my sister’s friend chris kept saying OMG there’s coldplay! and everyone at the table would turn around really quick to see where, but of course they weren’t there. i almost fell out of my chair doing that haha.

and then the concert. we got into the arena right at fiona apple was starting her set. umm…i’m not fiona’s biggest fan, so yeah. she kept hitting herself and doing odd things. so we decided that that was the perfect time for a bathroom break and merchandise shopping hahaha.

so she gets off and it took the roadies about 20-25 minutes to set up and i was getting very, very, very anxious.

then the lights dimmed and everyone went CRAZY!!!!! i was freaking the fuck out. i saw guy walk across the stage and i just started yelling my head off. jonny played the opening cords to square one and all of a sudden chris appears, outlined in the backdrop of numbers on the video screen. it was perfect. they played square one and then launched straight into politik. it was fucking fantastic!!!!! you could just feel the music flowing through you it was so powerful. oh my god it was sooooooo good. they played white shadows too! i forgot about that. it was AWESOME! it was so full of energy and his voice was amazing and the BASS holy crap, the bass was amazing. i watched jonny during this song, he is so cute when he performs! and guy would go back to will and they would jam for a little…got a nice view of the tush!

i think they played yellow after that…i think. yeah. probably. i’m so sorry but my mind is a total jumble of coldplay right now. but the big yellow ballons came down and about 7/8 of them ended up on stage, it was funny. jonny kicked some off stage and at the end of the song chris just started popping them w/ his guitar. the played speed of sound which was awesome, guy and will were both singing on it. will is absolutely amazing when he performs!!!!!!!!! i loved watching him, he puts so much into it. the video screen was just like the music video w/ the bright lights and everything.

so then after that chris started talking to the crowd. god knows how many times he mentioned the rodeo, but everytime he did the crowd went nuts. he was all “how are you guys doing?” and stuff like that, sometimes his voice was really muffled and i couldn’t hear everything. but when he introduced don’t panic (which i was more than thriled to hear) he said, “this is a song about when your hair gets too big and you start looking like a beegee, it’s called don’t panic”. for some reason, i think don’t panic was the most amazing song they performed that night and i don’t know why! it’s not my favorite song or anything, but i think that cuz it’s such a simple and wonderful song and it was the first song on their first album it just kinda made me think, “woah. this is it!” it was amazing. chris started and then stopped and told everyone that it was the first time that anyone in the united states was gonna hear jonny sing a solo, which, by the way, was amazingly good. the man can sing

they played GPASUYF before don’t panic and this is getting all out of order, but what the fuck. man…to hear that song played live was a dream come true. it was absolutely perfect, the music was spot on, his voice throught the whole concert was great, and he changed the lyrics too. he said “god gave me houston’s rodeo”, and eveyone just kinda lost it then. theeeeeeeeeen…i dont know what came next, but they played x&y, talk… ok let’s go with talk. talk was AWESOME!!!!! i did not get the random bear walking around though. very, very good live. chris walked over to guy and tapped his shoulder, the proceeded to whisper something into his ear. i was like…hey! i wanna know what you said! it was pretty sexy hahaha. hmmmm…what was after this…oh they played clocks too! my sister freaked out at that, it’s her favorite song ever. that was good and at the end chris statrted counting down from 10 and they gradually got faster and faster and faster and will’s arms were a blur and guy was rocking out w/ jonny and jonny was going crazy and chris was on the piano and it all crescndoed into this great big BANG.

i’m getting out of breathe just thinking about it.

i know i’m forgetting something, i just know i am. for the acoustic set they played til kingdom come, trouble(which was awesome!!!!!!! chris stole the keyboard from will and started playing the piano riff to it) and ring of fire. till kingdom come was good, guy was drinking (of course) and played the harmonica. and then they segwayed straight into ring of fire and chris was just “this is from a real texan…well, he wasn’t really a texan but fuck it, he was from the south” and some other stuff but everyone was laughing and then they played ring of fire which was sooooooo good. after that, you could see jonny and guy taking pictures of the crowd (how the hell does guy look sexy just by taking pictures?!?) and then they threw the cameras into the audience. oh! and before they started the acoustic set, chris siad “if anyone’s wondering why guy has glasses on, it’s b/c he got a tattoo of motley crew on his head, motley on one side and crue on the other, and he wants it to heal before dallas” and guy just kinda smiled at that.

that was the acoustic set and then they played some songs after that, which ones…well, that’s a mystery to me too.

good god this is getting long. ummmmm they finished w/ clocks, and then left. everyone kept screaming and clapping and then they came back on for the encore. swallowed in the sea (which was very good). the lyrics and setlists were projected all over the arena, it was cool! and then they played in my place, in which the crowd sang like half the song, and then fix you.

oh my god.

fucking amazing. i don’t think i can do it justice by describing it but i’ll try. he had the llightbulb and everything, and when jonny was playing his solo he just wound that shit up and let it fly. it was amazing.

man. my head is in a whirlwind. if anyone wants to know more, just ask me. i’ll prolly be posting bit and pieces of the concert as they randomly pop into my head.

but hey, he looked hot in them! i don’t think he was wearing them to be all “hey i’m hot shit” or anything…i just think was wearing them to wear them. maybe he thought we were an ugly crowd and he didn’t want his eyes to burn?

you can tell by the way he performs that he knows he’s good though. hahaha, that man just swaggers like he owns the fucking world, it’s great.

but how you see the world v2, when they (will, guy and chris) sing “We don’t wanna be man trapped, we don’t wanna be shrink wrapped”, they kind of shout it, and i was watching guy when they sang it and hot damn, they way he shouted that line and threw his head back…unnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh. no words to describe it, i almost lost control of all bodily functions.

that was the hottest line of the concert. hahaha. oh yeah, chris grabbed jonny during i think it was yellow, and they laid down together. it was very cute chrisandjonny love
