COLDPLAY LIVE ON AUSTIN CITY LIMITS ON ITUNES!

Thanks sting2kx!

(Coldplay: Live From Austin City Limits)

Coldplay take on Texas in this exclusive video performance filmed in December, 2005 as part of the acclaimed PBS program, Austin City Limits. Coldplay have long been praised for their live shows, where they effectively straddle the world of anthemic pop and something grander [critics might even say "important."] This is all on display as the band and its increasingly charismatic frontman, Chris Martin, run through tracks like “Clocks and “Speed of Sound”. This live session also includes two cuts that didn’t air on television ["Square One", "X&Y"]

Way cool!

leftfield66 Sacremento Report/Pix

leftfield66 took some awesome piccies of last night’s Sacremento show, which you can view here.

And here’s his report…

The show started fairly tame the crowd was fucking asleep I have never been in as lame coldplay show crowd wise but that changed. While playing the acoustic portion Chris broke a sting during “+” and Called it “a horrible tragedy” had a new guitar brought out started to play again. After about 3 chords he stopped and said. Paraphrasing here He said “I know you guys think it’s easy being a Napoleon Dynamite hair having rock star but when your playing in front of 15,000 people in a city you’ve never played and you break a sting it’s a I cant remember what he said but something like a bummer and then he asked for a bit of encouragement to continue and the crowd finally came alive. So he never finished playing “+” and just went into Ring of Fire.

After that it was going to be a short acoustic portion since they never played the acoustic song from X and Y. I was in the third row and I yelled out “PLAY GREEN EYES” AND THEY DID. I have not seen green eyes on any set lists and I think we got a treat so that was too cool.

He made jokes about his hair all night.

He said. “I know it’s a bummer when you show up at a concert and the lead singer has a different hair cut than the one that he had on the album and I suppose some of you will want your money back and that’s OK we are going to make it all back on the sequel to Napoleon Dynamite”

SACREMENTO 30/01/2006 Review/Setlist

Quick review from sactofan

Fantastic show!!! It’s my first time seeing Coldplay and I was very impressed. Set list was pretty standard, but we did get “Green Eyes” tonight which was a nice treat.

Chris did a nice job interacting with the crowd and made some funny improvisations during a few song bits. Only lowlight of the night occured during “Til Kingdom Come” when Chris broke a guitar string and had to cut the song short.

Anyway, here’s what they played tonight:

Square One
Politik
Yellow
Speed Of Sound
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face
X & Y
How You See The World
Don’t Panic
White Shadows
The Scientist
Til Kingdom Come (partial)
Ring Of Fire
Green Eyes
Clocks
Talk

Swallowed In The Sea
In My Place
Fix You

As normal it was a great show. Chris reallly did get pretty beat up by the fans, when he came back down I was suprised to see any clothes left on him. The fans were great, except the one behind me who was so drunk when she swayed her arms (after finishing making out with a stranger) she smacked me across the back of the head. Oh and I agree with Lancer Fiona Apple was BAD…but it just made Coldplay even better, if that is possible. Can’t wait for the next concert.

AmandaCA85 says:

It was so exciting, when he jumped into my row. I could actually see the beads of sweat dripping off is head. lol it was fantastic. And the light shows was just mesmerizing. Between his voice, the band, and the lights, i was just enthralled. It was the best concert ever.

Coldplay’s Lights, Action Has Crowd On Its Feet

Lights, numbers, action. When Britain’s Coldplay took the stage Monday night, singer Chris Martin cut a shadowy figure, his form silhouetted against a giant LED display of rapidly blinking digits that resembled a bedside alarm clock gone berserk.

For fans, it proved to be a welcome wake-up call and when Martin - a.k.a. Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow - started singing “Square One” it was clear that his sweet, smoky voice was more than capable of outshining any gimmicky stage show.

Sir Paul Ponders City Plea For Key 2008 Performance

Sir Paul McCartney last night admitted he had not decided if he would be performing in the city during the 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations.

The former Beatle, who was tipped to open the Kings Dock arena, said he had been approached by the Culture Company. But he confirmed no deal had so far been struck. He said: “I haven’t got any plans yet. I have just finished a tour in America and I normally lay low for a while afterwards. I have not got any plans. We will see, it is obviously very early days.”

Later, Sir Paul told guests how proud he was of LIPA, which he founded along with principal Mark Featherstone-Witty, but said it was unlikely to ever produce a band like the Beatles or Coldplay.

GROHL EXCITED BY UNUSUAL GRAMMY CATEGORY

FOO FIGHTERS rocker DAVE GROHL is more excited about competing in the unusual Grammy category of Best Surround-Sound Album next month (FEB06) than being nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song.

The former NIRVANA drummer is more optimistic about his chances of winning in the performance categories - but he would rather triumph in the technical category which pushes the boundaries of sound.

He says, “You know, to be completely honest, that is the one that we’re the most excited about.

“I mean, it’s great to get the best rock record and the best rock song and all that other stuff, but something as wickedly technical and bad a** as a true 5.1 surround record, that’s pretty kick a**. That just reeks of PINK FLOYD or something like that.

“Dude, the competition is stiff. I didn’t even know who else was in our categories. We’re clearly the underdog. We might stand alongside COLDPLAY, but that’s about it. That’s where that line is drawn.

Coldplay Makes Big Noise For Fair Trade

Coldplay champions Make Trade Fair campaign on current tour.

SACRAMENTO, CA Tuesday Jan.31.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ — Coldplay is making some Big Noise on its “Twisted Logic” North American trek.

Last week, the band kicked off the second leg of its tour in support of its latest album “X&Y.”

Coldplay has long championed the Make Trade Fair campaign to promote awareness and work to change of unfair trade rules. On its current tour, which runs now through April 2006, Coldplay will ask fans to sign Oxfam’s “Big Noise” petition, which calls on world leaders to change trade rules that deny millions of farmers around the world the benefits of trade.

Claiming organic is sexy is OTT!

If the natural goodness in organic food is meant to leave you bounding with energy why does Coldplay’s organic advocate Chris Martin howl his so called songs with all the enthusiasm of a cat facing a bath?
